HOW YOU CAN HELP

Support the Programs and Services

of the Food Bank for Monterey County

Donate Money: For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, we can distribute $8 worth of food to the community.

The Food Bank for Monterey County depends on the generosity of individuals like you, as well as grants and gifts from foundations, community organizations, and businesses. Donations help hungry residents to meet the ongoing challenge of providing food for themselves and their families. The challenge is great. However, with continued support from our friends and neighbors in the community, we are able to reduce the impact of hunger and malnutrition.

New! Join our monthly giving club, Partners Ending Hunger. Click here to join.

Now you can pre-authorize a monthly tax deductible gift to the Food Bank. Have the convenience and reliability of using your bank account directly to pay your monthly gift—which means you don’t have to write out a check…search for a stamp…or make a special trip to the post office.

Donate Time: Join the more than 300 volunteers in the commitment to meet the needs of hungry people!

We operate with only 16 full-time staff. The help of community residents who volunteer their time and services is essential; they are the backbone of the Food Bank organization.

Volunteers help sort, clean and pack food bags. They oversee distribution sites, answer phones, work on mailings, perform database entry, and handle many other duties in the office and warehouse.

Donate Food and/or Organize a Food Drive: You don't have to make a large donation to make a difference!

Any non-perishable food item you donate will be appreciated and very much needed. Canned meats, fish, vegetables and fruits, pasta and rice, cereals and grains, dried beans, and powdered milk are in great demand. In the last several years, food donations from local retailers have decreased dramatically because of the growth of discount grocery stores. Increasingly, we must depend on the community's generosity to meet basic needs.

Donate In-kind Services: Use your special talents in service to the community!

If you are able to fix it, mend it, clean it, wire it, put it back together, build it or design it, we need your help! There are many types of equipment, vehicles and other assets at our warehouse that need regular maintenance and repair.
