Education and Advocacy
The Education & Advocacy Program promotes the Food Bank’s mission in the community by educating people about the personal, political and social issues related to hunger.
The Food Bank for Monterey County advocates on the local, state and federal level for better policies and legislation that will guarantee adequate nutrition for everyone.
Our Activities
Advocacy activities include visiting elected officials to educate them about the problem of hunger, our programs, and policies that could improve the situation and the government nutrition programs. In addition, the Food Bank co-chairs the Central Coast Hunger Coalition (CCHC) that meets monthly to discuss legislation and public policy. In addition, we coordinated Feeding America’s “Hunger Study 2009” in our service area.
