AGENCY CLEARINGHOUSE
The
Agency Clearinghouse consists of a partnership between the
Food Bank for Monterey County and approximately 65 active
non-profit food assistance agencies that serve the elderly,
the chronically ill, the homeless, families with young children,
the unemployed and the working poor.
Member agencies include churches,
emergency food pantries, homeless and group shelters, rehabilitation
centers, soup kitchens, and youth and senior centers. Non-profit
agencies that apply to become members go through an initial
review process. Annual site visits are required. |

Member agencies (listed below) come
to the FBMC warehouse to obtain the food that they then distribute
to the people via their own programs at various sites in the county.
Through the Agency Clearinghouse all partner agencies receive food
that is donated from local retailers, growers and shippers, manufacturers,
government resources and community food drives. This is a critical
and inexpensive food resource, saving members thousands of dollars
annually. Without the Food Bank, emergency food providers would
distribute less food to fewer people.
